Seven Steps To Make Windows Happen – Step 2 – Window Type

To help you make an informed decision among the many options for your window treatments, JC Licht has launched a series of seven videos on important considerations when selecting window treatments. This second video in the “Make Windows Happen” videos series covers window types as an important factor in selecting window treatments. Each of the seven videos will cover a key topic: proper mounting, evaluating your windows, child safety, automated systems, opacity, planning the entire room, and budgets.

Consideration 2: Window Types

When choosing window treatments, it is important to take into consideration what kind of windows you have, such as single-hung, double-hung, casement, etc., because the function of the shade or bind must be compatible with the window type. “[With] A double-hung window, you may want to choose a blind or shade that raises and lowers,” says JC Licht’s Window Treatment Expert Ron Bryza. “That way, if you want to open your window a few inches to let some air in, you can raise the window treatment as well.” Additionally, some casement or crank-out windows might get in the way of operating the shade.
