When a client asks for an “updated 2015 new look,” using all her existing furnishings, (which just happen to be beautifully workable) – ask yourself, what makes the most obvious and impressive impact in a re-decorating scheme? Master Bedroom – Serene, comfortable, and a bit eclectic. The oversized bed with client’s white comforter, white-washed wood night stand, and mahogany 4-poster bed needed a warm grey wall color with matching soft grey silk drapery panels on nickel rod. Wall color is Benjamin Moore #1466 Smoke Embers in Aura Matte. Drapery Panels – RM Coco Pearl Grey on RM Coco decorator rod with rings.
Guest Bedroom – Warm mid-tone yellow walls in Mansfield Tan #248 – Benjamin Moore Aura Matte. To balance the grey/yellow tones in the existing bedspreads, a geometric grey & yellow mini print fabric was used in padded cornice with box kick pleats and contrasting cording and pleats in bright yellow. Valance sits over a Hunter Douglas Silhouette shade. Tablecloth in same grey & yellow mini print with contrasting yellow jumbo cording. Accent pillows finish the room. Living Room & Office Area: Banded drapery panels and padded/banded cornice sit over Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades. Hunter Douglas Luminette shade at patio door in office area. Paint color chosen to blend with oatmeal loveseats and cream colored area rug under desk. Benjamin Moore Aura Matte paint in #957 Papaya is the monochromatic background for the creamy drapery fabrics accented by the textured black/brown banding in this classy, sophisticated living room. Fabrics by RM Coco. Cornice by Quiltmaster. Board mounted banded draperies by Evmar Interiors.
Kitchen Eating Area: Wall paint color, HC-45 Shaker Beige in Aura eggshell was chosen to co-ordinate with the Hunter Douglas Cadence curved textured verticals that when tilted open, looks like the wall opens up. Ceilings throughout the project are Benjamin Moore Waterborne Ceiling paint in White Dove OC-17. All trim and doors are Benjamin Moore Advance satin, also White Dove OC-17. A black/taupe geometric fabric chosen for the seat cushions, table runner, and boxed valance. Contrasting banding and buttons in a solid beige textured fabric. Fabrics by Mitchell Fabrics and Norbar Fabrics. Fabrication by Quiltmaster.
Powder Room: Always a “little” room that needs drama! With all white fixtures and a beautiful dark wood floor, reintroducing beige, black and white on a dark grey ground. Wallcovering is York: Candice Olson-Inspired Elegance book # ND7077. Ceiling in Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa #OC-17. Trim is White Dove in Benjamin Moore Advance Satin.
Master Bath – Wallpaper with movement in subtle greys and tan on an interesting textured linen-like ground. All the colors play off the adjoining grey master bedroom. Wallpaper is York #WH2600. Ceiling – Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa White Dove OC-17 and trim & doors Benjamin Moore Advance Satin White Dove OC-17.
Guest Bathroom: York wallcovering- Pattern #309182. The existing floor tile color dictated the wallpaper colorway and design to stay subtle and timeless and to co-ordinate with adjoining guest room in a warm yellow. Ceiling paint is Aura Bath & Spa tinted to White Dove OC-17. Trim and doors in Advance Satin – White Dove OC-17.
Den/TV Room – Just enough room to kick back and relax to music or movies with a dramatic paint color that encompasses all the pieces in the room. Benjamin Moore Aura Matte in HC-82 Bennington Grey is striking with the Hunter Douglas textured Vignette shade with the top-down/bottom-up feature. Classic Scandinavian leather rocking chairs, and custom octagon shaped area rug balance the darker walls.
After vacationing and catching a 26 lb. Grouper, my client says she can hardly wait to return and open the door to see her beautiful new home! Because we all know – “There’s No Place Like Home.”
