Here are four ways to connect your rooms with color:

Create Flow

In open floor plan houses, it’s even more imperative to select colors that correlate to each other.

The goal is to give each room or space its own character while still achieving a sense of unity. Or keep it simple by choosing a consistent paint color on the walls of connecting spaces.

Select a Color Theme

Choose a single color as a theme to run throughout your home. This one color will be a unifying link that runs from room to room.

Color Crosslinking

Just because you have an open floor plan doesn’t mean you have to paint every room the same color.

Tie in the Floors

If you choose to paint adjoining rooms with vastly contrasting colors, create cohesiveness by using flooring or area rugs that contain both colors. The rugs and walls don’t have to match exactly, the eye will still see them as closely related if one is slightly darker or lighter than the other.

Connect with White Trim

A no fail way to unify your space from room to room is to paint all the trim throughout the house the same color of white. Pick your wall colors first then choose a white that works well with them. White trim will connect your rooms and make you feel anchored as you move throughout your home.
