Brooke’s Hand-Picked Benjamin Moore Shades

Bring Brooke’s signature style into your home with her curated Benjamin Moore colors — soft neutrals, pastels, and versatile mid tones chosen to complement any space.

We sat down with Brooke to learn more about her business, design philosophy, and approach to creating spaces that feel personal and functional. Here’s what she had to say:

JC Licht: Brooke, tell us a little about how you got started in design.
Brooke: I’ve always seen spaces differently — my brain works in symmetry and organization. I was born with OCD, which has shown up in different ways throughout my life, but it’s allowed me to create spaces that feel functional, purposeful, and transformative. I live for a before + after, and I see potential where my clients sometimes can’t.

JC Licht: What inspired the shift from The Duchess of Declutter to edit + design?
Brooke: Transformation has always drawn me — not just visual, but deeply felt. Spaces hold stories, and sometimes they need a new chapter. I did too. The business evolved naturally as my scope expanded — from organization to interiors, renovations, and custom woodwork. I’m constantly thinking of ways to push boundaries and expand the business.

Design Philosophy

JC Licht: How would you describe your design style?
Brooke: Minimalism guides me, but my spaces are layered with intention. I always start with the anchors — lighting, furniture, form — and then layer in texture, scale, and color. It should feel effortless, never overworked. And honestly? I can design in any style — I just listen first.

JC Licht: You mention “intentional design.” What does that look like in practice?
Brooke: It’s about making sure every element has a purpose. From how a room functions to the colors and patterns we choose, it all has to work together. Minimalism helps, but I love layering to add warmth and personality.

JC Licht: What’s your favorite space to design?
Brooke: Powder rooms. They’re small, safe, and perfect for experimenting — color, pattern, bold wallpaper… it’s my playground.

Color & Wallpaper

JC Licht: Favourite colors to work with?
Brooke: I’m loving Swiss Coffee right now — clean, versatile, and not too white or creamy. I’d also love to work with the right teal — something soft yet punchy, elegant but unexpected.

JC Licht: Wallpaper or paint?
Brooke: Wallpaper all the way — it’s art. Ceilings, walls, you name it. It’s a big commitment, but it brings warmth and personality without trying too hard. If a client loves tigers, I’ll find you tigers. I’m game for anything — as long as it works in the space.

JC Licht: Any pro tips for choosing the perfect palette?
Brooke: Sample everything. Light changes everything — day vs. night, natural vs. artificial. Live with it for a week before pulling the trigger.

Custom Woodwork & Renovations

JC Licht: You co-own made by jbm. How does that influence your design work?
Brooke: It’s amazing to be hands-on in the process — from sketches to installation. Every piece is crafted to align with the client’s vision, and it makes renovations more efficient and intentional.

JC Licht: What’s your renovation superpower?
Brooke: Spatial planning. Storage is always a big one — people underestimate how much they’ll need. I think about function now and five years down the road, and that drives a lot of my decisions.

JC Licht: How do you create a home that “hits different”?
Brooke: Listening. Really understanding wants and needs. Trends fade, but a home built around the people living in it lasts — and it resonates.
