The Designer’s Top Ten Questions

1.    Function . . . Do you need light control (filter or room darkening) energy efficiency or privacy?  Maybe block a bad view?



2.    Take into consideration the architectural style of the building (interior & exterior).



3.    Consider the size of the window, and if the idea is appropriate for the scale of the window.



4.    A window treatment can change the appearance or shape or size of a window.



5.    Your window treatment can tie all the design aspects of your room together.  Take into consideration the style of the other items in the room.



6.    Color – should it compliment or contrast?



7.    The window treatment can be the basis of your color scheme for your room.



8.    Texture – which material is best suited?



9.    A real important decision has to do with all the options available for your window treatment such as, top down bottom up, shutter options, lined or unlined and the cordless option, important if children use the room.



10.    Take pictures of the windows and other design elements in the room.
